This is a truly captivating Kachina that is packed with detail.

Tasap yeibichai is the grandfather of the Navajo Kachina, and is one of the more enjoyable features of the Navajo Kachina Dance. He does not speak; instead he acts out “in a comical way” whatever he wants. He starts the dance, acting as a leader in both the singing and the dancing. His dance step is a sort of Lively exaggeration, with the occasional pause for comic relief, such as a request for food. All of his acts are done in pantomimes that make the audience laugh.

Woody Sewemaenewa showed the talent required to be a great Kachina carver at a very early age. Since he was to young to be initiated as a carver, he would sneak into his father's shed and carve in secret. One day when his kachinas were discovered, everyone in his family knew that Woody had the gift to become a carver. Then, he was guided and initiated properly by his father. Now, Woody's work is known and recognized due to his hard work and artistic ability. Woody loves to constantly carve kachinas and his passion is seen in the different styles of kachinas that he makes. He was born on November 27, 1969 in Keams Canyon, Arizona. Woody belongs to the Greasewood Clan.

This Kachina Doll is made of cottonwood root and is signed on the bottom of the base "Woody Sewemaenewa ". If you would like to see a picture of the signature on the bottom of the base or more pictures of the doll please let us know. We are PROUD to bring you another amazing Kachina Doll! Most reliable shipping online!!

Love purchasing kachina dolls from this site because i know i wont have to worry about it arriving damaged or getting lost. Buying such fragile pieces of art online is always worrisome as some companies just throw it in a box and the carriers aren't always as delicate as they should be with them. From experience Kachina-Dolls goes the extra step and individually packages each doll with care so that it arrives in perfect condition and can withstand the transit conditions. Thanks for always having such a great selection of affordable kachinas!

    sacred memories
Posted by Rose Jensen | Reviewing Kachina-Dolls.com | Posted on
When i grew up, i remember my parents taking me to my grandfathers house out in Arizona every summer where he would sit and tell me the legends of each one of his Kachina dolls. Our story time wasn't out of children books, it was of the legends of the Navajo tribe. Those summers are the ones i will never forget and being able to have a few of the kachina dolls shipped out of the state i once used to visit each summer as a child, means more than words can describe.
