Pottery measures approximately 7-1/4" tall, 7" wide and is 23-3/4" in circumference (around its widest point).

This beautiful style of Navajo art is called horse hair pottery because actual horse hair is added to the pottery at just the right moment in the firing process to melt the hairs into the pottery, creating unique and incredible designs. This lovely Native American pot is hand etched and hand painted with Buffalo designs and traditional designs by Navajo artist Carol Johnson. To finish off the pot, the lip is beautifully accented with a layer of fine turquoise dust. The pottery is signed by the artist.

The Buffalo is one of the most important animals to the people of the Plains and it is a great symbol to most Native Americans. The Plains Indians had developed life around the buffalo using it in many different ways. It was used for food, tools, shelter, warmth, and weaponry. To some, the Buffalo represents strength, stability, and prosperity.

Navigating around computers doesn't come as easy to me as it does to other people these days. I find it complicate to use website to order things online on most websites. This website made it easy for me to find the exact piece that i was looking to buy, as well as complete my order.

I have been collecting Kachina Dolls since the 90s. Its great to find a website that has such a diverse collection at such reasonable prices. Not many places online sell such rare and unique pieces of art, so upon finding your website it was like striking gold. Your descriptions are true to the dolls that i have purchased and its nice to see that you also provide the legend behind each one.

    Bringing the Southwest to me!
Posted by Laurie Jenkins | Reviewing Kachina-Dolls.com | Posted on
I grew up in New Mexico with my grandparent where southwest spirit was everywhere. Since then i grew up and got married and had my own family and moved to Maine. Kachina-Dolls helps me build a little of that Southwestern spirit in my own home and even though were states apart, their spirit is still here with me every day.
